I love lighting design and production, and get that warm, fuzzy feeling whenever I'm up in the roof of a theatre, or hiding in the FOH booth. I have gained a wealth of experience in different aspects of events and theatre-work, from your standard lighting, sound and rigging through to setting up and working with temporary venues in some pretty weird places. I love to see projects and ideas come to life from doodles in a book and to use these opportunities to build skills and develop myself further.
I am the Managing Director of Q32, a specialist technical support and events services company based in Dunedin, New Zealand. We provide lighting design, rigging, operation and support; aswell as event management, web design, video editing and photography services.
I also work part-time for
Critic Magazine as the Online Content Editor which involves managing all facets of the magazines online presence. In addition, I also produce, film and edit Critic TV.
Around the workplace my greatest interests are process improvement and awesome customer service. I get a kick out of developing new processes to help meet business goals and generally make life easier for myself, my colleagues and my clients. In a customer service role I'm crazy about ‘total resolution’: taking ownership and resolving any issue through to completion. I am a social guy and enjoy working in a team environment and getting to know people throughout the industry.
I like to keep busy, and thrive in a high-pressure environment. But I also know how to relax and keep a good balance between work and play. Outside of the workplace, music, movies, and my close mates play a huge role in my life. I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the
University of Otago and have internationally published research papers. Psychology continues to be a strong interest of mine.
